Silly Sisters

Abraham Lincoln Memorial

On an earlier trip to D.C. this month the girls really wanted to go see this monument. The weather was cold and raining so we missed it. After leaving the zoo they asked again and I promised if I could find a close parking space we would go. It was 5 pm in Washington D.C. but apparently everyone leaves there parking space at that time so we were lucky. We parked within two blocks and finally got to walk up the stairs to see the statue. Abigail was very excited since she is learning all about the penny in school right now and the monument is on one side of the penny.

Bird Rescue

We learned lots of neat information at the Bird Rescue center. The girls got to see an Ostrich egg(the largest) and a hummingbird egg(the smalles). We also saw lots of different feathers and then we went looking for those birds in at the zoo. So we had a little bit of educational material for the day.

Happy Girls

Tiger Cubs

Lunch?

We got to see the snake have it's lunch. That's right a mouse in it's mouth.

Up Close and Personal

Hannah sits next to the Gorilla and imitates holding her foot. He had a hold of his toes.

Baby Panda

The girls thought this was so cute that the baby Panda was sleeping in the tree. Olivia could not understand how she got up there.

National Zoo

The weather was so nice on Monday we decided to delay our day of school work (just one of the luxuries of homechooling) and go to the zoo.

In the far distance the baby panda is asleep in the tree.

Holiday Party

Jerry and I got all dressed up to go the the Microsoft Holiday Party. This year the event was at the Kennedy Center in D.C. We were treated with a very nice meal and then we saw the National Symphony Orchestra perform their holiday concert. We had a great time but I was glad that we don't have to dress like this often. I like jeans and tshirt :-)

Bakers in training

It can't be the holiday season without some baking in our house. The girls always help me make our goodies that we share with our friends and teachers. Here we were making some oatmeal chocolate chip walnut cookies. They are as yummy as they look!

Groove Contest

We decided that Abby gets her "moves" from Grandpa Darrell, so they gave a little dance contest. All the girls participated but as you can see it was Abby and Grandpa Darrell that stole the show.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

All the final touches, oh so important.

Need a Hook

Mom helped the girls get the hooks on their ornaments. She was a little disturbed by how tangeled and old all of my hooks are. I have not bought new hooks since the first box I bought when we got married 14 years ago. I will make sure to buy new hooks next year.

Hide this Ornament

We have lots of special ornaments that we put on our tree every year. My dad was pretty disapppointed to see we had a Dallas Cowboys ornament but not a New Orleans Saints so he conviently put it in a speical place on the tree.

Christmas Tree Time

Well I am one of those crazy people that get up very early on Black Friday to go shopping. I arrived at Circuit City only to find they had sold out of the television I wanted. I did find a few other items on my list so to the line to check out. After two hours of waiting to pay I think the frustration must have been apparent on my face. The sales person asked if I wanted the t.v. that was on special, he saw I had another smaller one, and I said yes. He said they still had them in the back they had been to busy to restock the floor. So it was a successful shopping morning. I then went to meet Jerry, the girls, and my parents for breakfast. As we always put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving we went searching for a live tree. We didn't have good luck so I ended up at BJs buying a 10ft. artificial tree. Grandma Billie and Grandpa Darrell helped us put it up.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Well I am a little late on posting all these pictures but I hope you still enjoy. The girls had a great surprise the night before Thanksgiving when we took them out to dinner and when the hostess sat us at our table there were some familiar faces already there. My parents drove from Louisiana to visit and the girls were shocked to see Grandpa Darrell and Grandma Billie sitting at the table. On Thanksgiving Day they came out to the house and cooked a wonderful meal for us. We had all our favorite dishes and we were stuffed for days. Thanks mom and dad!
